- FA-50 최종계약식, 방산전시회 참석 통해 양국 방산협력 확대 기반 마련 - 한-말레이시아 포괄적 국방협력 발전 논의 |
이종섭 국방부장관은 2023년 5월22일부터 25일까지 말레이시아 랑카위에서 개최되는 ‘말레이시아 국제 해양·항공 전시회’(LIMA:The Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition)에 참석할 예정입니다.
◦‘말레이시아 국제 해양·항공 전시회’는 동남아시아 지역에서 개최되는 대규모 방산전시회 중 하나로, 우리나라를 포함하여 30여 개국 600여 업체와 UAE, 튀르키예, 인도네시아, 싱가포르 등 8개국 국방장관이 참석할 예정입니다.
□ 이종섭 장관은 이번 전시회 기간 동안 ▴한-말레이시아 국방장관회담을 갖고, ▴말레이시아 국무총리를 예방하여 양국 간 국방·방산 협력 방안을 논의할 예정입니다.
□ 또한, 이종섭 장관은 FA-50 최종계약식*에 참석하여 한-말레이시아 방산협력 강화에 대한 우리 정부의 확고한 지원과 협력 의지를 표명하고, 전시회에 참가한 한국 방산업체를 방문하여 간담회를 개최할 예정입니다.
* 말레이시아 국방부와 한국항공우주산업(KAI)은 지난 ’23.2.24. FA-50 18대에 대한
본 계약(LOA: Letter of Acceptance)에 서명하였으며, 5.23. 최종계약식 개최
◦특히, 이번 말레이시아에 대한 FA-50 수출*은 한·말레이시아 방산협력이 본격적으로 발전할 수 있는 계기를 마련할 것으로 기대합니다.
* 말레이시아 공군은 경공격기 및 전술입문훈련기 1차 도입사업에서
우리 한국항공우주산업(KAI)의 FA-50(18대/약 9.2억불)을 선정
□ 한편, 우리 군은 이번 행사에서 ▴공군 블랙이글스의 에어쇼,
▴해군 최신예 상륙함인 ‘노적봉함’의 전시를 통해
우리 무기체계의 우수성을 홍보하여 방산협력 확대를 위한 국제적 기반을 탄탄히 다질 예정입니다. <끝>
